Dr. Harry Staffileno Jr.,  DDS; MS  (Nov 11, 1930 – January 1, 2011)

Our practice was established by Dr. Harry Staffileno Jr. in 1965 as a practice limited to Periodontics. Dr. Harry Staffileno practiced periodontics for over 50 years along his career and volunteered a significant amount of his time to teaching at the various dental schools in the Chicago area. His scientific contributions to the field of dentistry and of periodontics will be quoted for as long as our specialty exists.

For over 20 years, Dr. Staffileno served  as the Head of the Dental Division and Program Director of the General Practice Residency at Evanston Hospital. In the late 1980’s, Dr. Staffileno started the Oral Health Assessment program at Evanston Hospital to help patients with oral complications related to cancer treatment.

Dr. Staffileno is one of the original founders of the Illinois Society of Periodontists. He was an active member in many scientific organizations including the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Oral Medicine, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, The Odontographic Society of Chicago, and the International Association for the Advancement of Science.

Other notable achievements along Dr. Staffileno’s career include: 1979 AAP president, 1991 AAP Fellowship Award, and Fellow of the American College of Dentists. Dr. Harry Staffileno practiced Periodontics at his office until shortly before his passing in 2011.
